Travel Information
Snohomish is a suburb east of Everett, which is about 30 miles north of Seattle. Most folks coming from out of town will fly through SeaTac International Airport, located approximately halfway between Seattle and Tacoma. Other potential alternatives are Bellingham International Airport (about 65 miles north of Everett) and Portland International Airport (about 175 miles south of Seattle). Cars can be rented at each airport.
For those with fewer time constraints in their travel, Amtrak is an excellent choice for seeing the spectacular western scenery on your way to the wedding. The Empire Builder connects Chicago and Seattle (with a stop in Everett), the Coast Starlight connects Los Angeles and Seattle, and the Cascades service connects Eugene, Portland, Seattle, Everett and Vancouver, BC. There are numerous car rental agencies in downtown Seattle, and Everett Station has a direct line to the local Hertz lot.
If you’re looking to avoid renting a car for travel within the Puget Sound region, WSDOT and the transit agencies have extensive ferry, train and bus networks:
- WSDOT Ferries (including travel to the Olympic Peninsula; Whidbey Island; Victoria, BC)
- Sound Transit (Sounder commuter rail connecting Tacoma, Seattle and Everett; Express buses operating throughout the region; Tacoma Link streetcar in downtown Tacoma)
- King County Metro (bus service throughout King County, including Seattle and Bellevue)
- Seattle Streetcar (downtown Seattle to South Lake Union)
- Community Transit (bus service throughout Snohomish County, including Everett)
- Everett Transit (bus service within Everett)
- Pierce Transit (bus service in Pierce County, including Tacoma)
(Note that there are no bus routes serving the venue.)
Taxi services are also available in the cities, but from what we’ve heard they’re not cheap — for example, a current proposal would raise the price of a trip from SeaTac to downtown Seattle from $32 to $40 by late September.
Lodging
The official wedding hotel is the Holiday Inn Everett. You can make reservations online or call 1-866-700-1188 and request either rate code KHW or the Kinkead-Honan Wedding Block. Our discounted rate is $109.00/night + tax for a “Deluxe Standard” room with up to two occupants; the third and fourth adults are an additional $10.00 each. The block will be reserved through August 26th; after that date, reservations using the block rate will be based on availability. A discounted rate of $28 per person (each way) is available for a shuttle directly to/from SeaTac Int’l Airport. For other needs, the hotel’s front desk is 425-339-2000.
While the hotel does offer a wedding-day shuttle service to Lord Hill Farms, due to the anticipated number of guests it’s unlikely that the shuttle will be able to accommodate everybody; these arrangements are being negotiated. Please contact us if you would like to participate in carpooling arrangements as either a passenger or driver.
There are, of course, many other hotel options in the area, and you are welcome to make reservations that best accommodate your overall travel plans.
The wedding and reception will be held at Lord Hill Farms, located at:
12525 Old Snohomish-Monroe Road, Snohomish, WA 98290
A handy printable map will eventually be available on this page; check back in mid-September to download a copy. You can also use Google Maps to navigate your way around:
The wedding will begin at 5:00 PM. Weather permitting — basically, so long as it isn’t raining or a howling windstorm — the ceremony will be held outdoors on a grassy lawn. If it is raining, the ceremony area above the reception area will be used. The entire site is ADA accessible.
After the ceremony, a receiving line will form to funnel guests into the cocktail hour; the reception follows and will run until approximately 11:00 PM. Dinner will be served buffet style, with entrees of Lemon Dill Salmon and Chicken Asiago. Seats will not be assigned, so feel free to circulate and enjoy conversing with old friends and making new ones.
In the event you would like to give the bride and groom a gift, we have established registries at:
In lieu of a registry item, we would also welcome contributions to offset the cost of our “dream” honeymoon to Ireland and Scotland, which we embark upon the day after the wedding. Checks can be made out to “David OR Cortney Honan” and mailed to the address on your RSVP envelope (or you can contact us if you’ve already thrown that away and need our address — we’re not publishing it on the web).
Thanks so much, and we look forward to seeing you at the end of September!
