Exhausted after the previous day's long trip up Stevens Pass, I slept in on Sunday, April 30th.
Upon waking up and discovering that the Seattle area was once again basking under cloudless skies,
I decided to spend another evening out at Carkeek Park.

I arrived in time to catch No. 8 just a few minutes into its journey from Seattle to Chicago. |

A strong breeze coming across the sound lured numerous kitesurfers to the water; I watched this
guy perform stunts for an hour or so, which provided enjoyable entertainment between trains. |

I suppose this could be one of those "back when I was your age..." things that older folks tell
youngsters like me: "Back when I was your age, all the trains on this line were led by solid sets
of green Burlington Northern units that perfectly complimented the trees." I was pleased to see
the S-BPATCP1-20A had just such a collection of power. |

The M-VAWEVE1-22A is only 25 miles from its destination as it rolls eastward. |

 |
Fifteen minutes behind the VAWEVE was Amtrak Cascades No. 516. |

 |
A half-hour after No. 516 passed, the Q-WENSSE3-21A cruised westward along the sound. For
some reason the dispatcher parked the train at MP 8, and it sat there until after sunset. |

Eight minutes after the stack train went by on Main 2, the U-EVEROO1-22A ran around it on Main 1.
I'm sure all the park visitors were delighted to have a mile-long train of garbage interrupt their
pleasant day at the beach. |

Once the garbage train had cleared the single track at MP 7, Seattle East ran the M-PASVBT1-20A
east on Main 1 past the WENSSE. |

Yet again, I finished off the day with a few photos of the Olympic Mountains at sunset. |
