I spent a gorgeous late-winter afternoon hanging out at Carkeek Park north of Ballard...

North Beach, WA Hot train Z-CHCSSE8-10B (the "Chick-Sea") cruises along Puget Sound as it nears the end of its journey from Chicago to South Seattle.

North Beach, WA A rock on the shore gets coated with foam as a small wave breaks.

I was amused to watch two girls trying to take a photograph of a couple marked-up popsicle sticks against the background of a wet rock; they seemed to be a little skittish about getting wet. After finally getting their shot, the girl in blue was checking out the resulting photo when she was surprised by a big splash.

North Beach, WA Where am I, Indiana? I didn't think I'd see thunderheads like this out here in Seattle.

North Beach, WA New leads old: Seven-year-old BNSF 4350 and six-year-old BNSF 4668 lead 28-year-old BNSF 7847, 27-year-old BNSF 7909 and 20-year-old EMDX 9049 on M-INBNWE1-10A.

North Beach, WA Did you notice above that the girl in the blue sweatshirt was barefoot? A while after shooting the series above I observed that one of her flip-flops was missing... and then found. Uh-oh! It eventually drifted back to shore, so I fished it out of the water and returned it to its rightful owner.
